McConnell's Mills

On the way back from the roller skating birthday party, we just could not let this day get away from us, so Betty brought Ethan and Bethany with our family for a nature walk down along the McConnell's Mills park.

We got to see some daring folks with Kyaks enter the water under the bridge and brave the cold water.

Here are some other pictures from today's walk.

Aidan & Andrew's Big Roller Skating Bash

The boys birthdays fall pretty close in the month of March, so the Johnston family gathered together for some birthday fun at the Roller Rink. It was a really neat place, with traditional roller skates and a DJ. Liam won the limbo contest, and all the kids got to play neat games and dance. Of course tag was a very popular (albeit dangerous) game.

Here are some shots from the day's fun:

When Bob gets older losing his head...(The big 64)

Dad decided he wanted to keep it low key for a change, so what does he do??? Invite us all over to his place on his Birthday, and cooks a massive turkey feast. Anyway, the old man turned 64 so here is a shot of the family joining him for his special day.

Of course the night would not be complete without us razzing him about his munchkin cake, which was made to serve about 4 people. With some creative cutting, each of us got about a quarter inch size cut of cake, but it was all in good fun. He got lots of presents and then got wrestled to the floor by his grand kids. Happy birthday Dad.

The Carnegie in Oakland

As members, we do try to make it down every so many weeks. Being a somewhat cold day, and unable to go outside we opted to go and see the Museum. We seem to have a usual routine of Dinosaurs, Hall of Minerals, and stuff, but this time we went to a few different corners that we don't always seem to visit.

Here we see the boys making funny poses by the fountain. Tristan does his best Kung Fu Panda impersonation, while Liam attempts to fake us out that he's falling backward into the fountain.

Then after the museum it is off to one of the family's favorite restaurant, LuLu's Noodles on Craig street for some delicious Pad Thai. Yummy!!! We really love Oakland.
